Plants was made using a structure developed by Hedi Kyle that she calls a pocket accordion with separate cover. The featured plants (broad beans, ginger, hemp, licorice, spelt and wheat) are illustrated with ink and watercolor on card stock tags that were first botanically printed. The reverse side has text about each plant hand written in ink. The covers are alderwood with recessed mica labels and strap closure. Physica is a series of 9 artists' book works, each focusing on one of the 9 sections in Hildegard von Bingen's Physica, written in the 12th Century, as translated from Latin to English by by Priscilla Throop.
